In 1953 John Shank founded Johnstone Supply in Portland, Oregon. In 1981, John created our industry’s first co-op when he converted 32 locations to individually-owned separate businesses. At that time, Greg Popma purchased the Eugene and Portland locations and formed Johnstone NW. Johnstone NW is still family-owned and operated and has since developed into one of the Northwest’s leading wholesale suppliers of Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (HVAC/R) related products. Our team is now lead proudly by the third generation of Johnstone owners: Matt Popma (VP of Sales & Marketing), Corky Popma (VP of Operations) and Mike Martinson (WA Regional Manager). 

Today, the Johnstone Supply co-op has developed into one of the largest HVAC/R wholesale organizations in the country and is clearly recognized as the leader in our industry. Nationwide, with over 350 locations and 5 distribution centers strategically located throughout the country, Johnstone continues to greatly outpace the rest of the industry. It is our overall commitment to Product, Knowledge and Service that is the key to the continued success of Johnstone Supply.

With our affiliation to the Johnstone Supply co-op, our company has the ability to obtain major brand name products and offer a very competitive price to the contractor. However, it is on the local level that we can leverage the strengths of our 13 branch locations throughout the Northwest and our top-notch staff to deliver true value to the contractors. Each of our conveniently located branches carries an extensive inventory of equipment, supplies and replacement parts designed to serve the needs of each local market. We offer will-call, ship-out or local delivery services in each of our markets to make it easy to do business with.
